Jared Hassman earns Rambabu Kadiyala Award

Jared A. Hassman, Electrical and Computer Engineering student and Herff Ambassador coordinator, was awarded the 2022 Rambabu Kadiyala Award. Set to graduate May 2024, he was nominated by multiple students as someone who is always willing to help other students. A Herff STEM Ambassador, he works 150 contact hours (plus necessary preparation time) during the academic year as a mentor or tutor in a local K-12 school or non-profit organization.

Herff participates in Student Networking Dinner

The Benjamin L. Hook Institute for Social Change hosted their 5th annual Student Networking Dinner for members of the Hooks African American Male Initiative (HAAMI) and A Seat at the Table (ASATT). Made possible thanks to grant funding from Truist, the event provided students dinner and the opportunity to network with community professionals.

HAAMI focuses on enriching the collegiate experience and improving graduation outcomes for African American undergraduate male students at the University of Memphis. The program’s pillars are academic achievement, personal development, and career readiness. Engineering majors make up the largest group of our HAAMI members. ASATT is an initiative sponsored by the Benjamin L. Hook Institute for Social Change in collaboration with the Office of Multicultural Affairs with the goal of empowering women students by providing mentorship opportunities, financial literacy lessons and career readiness skills.
