What influenced your decision to attend Herff College of Engineering?
My cousin inspired me to study engineering technology. He made it seem possible to
turn a dream into reality, so I switched my degree path from Nursing to Engineering
Technology.
How did Herff prepare you for your career?
The resume workshops helped me gain a basic understanding of how to structure a resume
properly. Student organizations such as SWE and NSBE helped me develop my networking
skills and surround myself with like-minded people. Job fairs every semester gave
me confidence that I would eventually find an industry related to my studies that
I would enjoy.
What skills or knowledge did you learn throughout the program that you found most
helpful in your career?
Networking is the one main skill that has helped tremendously.
Who was your most impactful professor? Why?
Professor Hewitt & Professor Banning
Were you involved in student groups? If so, which one(s)?
SWE & NSBE
What support(s) did you have during your time as a college student? How did you keep
focused on the goal?
NSBE was my biggest support system. The study groups and fellowship kept me motivated
throughout my studies! Mrs. Moses was always there to support us and that made a huge
impact as well.
What was your greatest memory from your time at Herff?
Being an HCOE student ambassador! The friendships, experiences, and countless leadership
development opportunities all made my time pursuing my undergraduate degree more meaningful.
What advice would you give those considering enrolling in Herff College of Engineering?
Get involved with one of the student organizations to expand your network while pursuing
your degree.
What do you know now that you wish you had known during your time at Herff?
The staff and professors will still support me after graduation.
Was your Herff experience worth the price? If you could do it over again, what would
you do differently?
I would definitely do it again! Switching my major was the best thing I could have
done!
