Awards
The Melvin A. Humphreys Prize for Student Research
Award Amount: $500 (amount may vary annually depending upon available funds)
Award Committee: Composed of College of Health Sciences Graduate Council members and Graduate Director acting as committee chair.
Eligibility: Undergraduate or graduate student pursuing an academic major in the College of Health Sciences who is either currently enrolled or who has graduated within one year prior to the award’s application deadline.
Award Criterion: One prize is awarded based for the best, first-authored scholarly product from research conducted at the UofM that has or is to be presented (or accepted for presentation) and/or published (or accepted for publication) in an academic/professional forum within one year preceding the award’s application deadline.
Application Process: Applicants must electronically submit the following to the Director of Academic Programs, College of Health Sciences, lweiss@memphis.edu with Humphreys Prize Submission in the subject line.
- brief award-consideration cover letter
- electronic copy of the scholarly work being considered
- electronic copy of evidence that the work has been presented (or accepted for presentation) and/or published (or accepted for publication) in an academic/ professional forum by the application deadline
