About Tod Underhill
Tod Underhill holds a Master of Science in Parks and Resource Management from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania and a Bachelor of Science in Education in Parks and Recreation Administration from the University of Memphis. With a combined background in law enforcement, emergency services, and education, he brings a unique perspective to his teaching.
Prior to academia, Underhill served as a Law Enforcement Ranger and Emergency Dispatcher for the National Park Service and Shelby Farms. He subsequently instructed at two NPS Seasonal Ranger Academies. His dedication to public safety extends to his role as a National Registry Emergency Medical Technician. As an American Red Cross Emergency Medical Response Instructor and former Government Liaison for Disaster Services in Memphis and Shelby County, he has extensive experience in pre-hospital care and disaster management.
With over 20 years of teaching experience in the College of Health Science, Underhill is a seasoned educator. His passion for the outdoors and commitment to safety are evident in his coursework. During his leisure time, he enjoys exploring the diverse landscapes of the United States through visits to National Parks.
