About Rachel Humphrey

Dr. Rachel Humphrey is a clinical assistant professor and serves as the director of clinical education for the Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program at the University of Memphis Lambuth campus.  She is a licensed physical therapist with over 15 years of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedic and aquatic settings with West Tennessee Healthcare.  Dr. Humphrey is passionate about aquatic therapy and quality physical therapy student education, and as such has pursued continuing education opportunities to become a certified Aquaticist, and an American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Advanced Credentialed Clinical Instructor.

During her clinical practice, she has served as the primary clinical instructor for numerous student physical therapists, and has provided mentorship to PT clinical instructors. She is a member of the APTA, Tennessee Physical Therapy Association (TPTA), APTA Academy of Aquatic Physical Therapy, and APTA Academy of Education.  She has also pursued additional continuing education in multiple areas related to clinical practice including Mechanical Diagnosis and Treatment (McKenzie method levels A-D), manual therapy interventions (IASTM, dry needling, kinesiotaping), and psychosocial practice issues.

Dr. Humphrey looks forward to developing a strong clinical education component of the DPT program and fostering strong connections between the University of Memphis Lambuth academic community and clinical physical therapy professionals across the West Tennessee region and the State of Tennessee.
