Checklist icon ABM Admissions Overview

The Accelerated Bachelor to Master Program (ABM) allows qualified undergraduates to simultaneously earn up to 12 graduate credit hours toward the completion of both their bachelor’s and master’s degrees during their undergraduate senior year.

Eligibility

Students must have an minimum overall GPA of 3.25, reflect Senior classification, and have an application to graduate on file. Qualifying students are allowed to complete a maximum of 12 credit hours of Graduate Level coursework (including Combo Senior credit) before receiving their Undergraduate Baccalaureate Degree.

Invitation & Admission

To participate in the ABM program a student must receive an invitation or sponsorship from a program faculty member and the undergraduate advisor. Once accepted into the ABM Program, Graduate School will assign the ABM attribute and the student's advisor or department will assign the student an ABM permit(s) allowing registration into the approved GR Level coursework. After the first week of classes, the UG equivalent(s) will be added to the student's transcript with a grade of 'IP' (in progress). The student's Degree Analyst will then be able to update UMdegree, allowing the UG equivalent to be counted toward the student's degree requirements. Upon completion, standard grades and credit hours will be applied to the GR Level coursework. A grade of 'S' (Satisfactory) or 'U' (Unsatisfactory) will then be applied to the UG level coursework, reflecting credit hours only.

Approval into the ABM program does not guarantee acceptance into Graduate School. If the student intends to pursue their master's degree after completing their UofM Undergraduate Degree, they must formally submit an application to the Graduate School for admissions via the Tiger Tracks Portal.

Tuition

Undergraduate level tuition will be assessed for both undergraduate and graduate courses for an undergraduate level student who is taking part in the ABM program.
