Inaugural Program Offers Rising High School Juniors and Seniors a Unique College Experience, June 24-June 28
Memphis, TN – February 27, 2019. University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business and Economics has developed a comprehensive five-day business program for Shelby County Schools (SCS) high school students who will be juniors and seniors in fall 2019. The FCBE-Summer Business Institute program is an initiative created by Dr. Marla Stafford, interim dean of the college, and supported by the Peer Power Foundation.
The pre-college program is a first offering for high school students at FCBE, University of Memphis. "We want to begin closing the gap between high school and college for students, make the transition easier, and inspire and show them the resources in Memphis such as our business concentrations, career paths, networking, entrepreneurship, emerging technology and a glimpse of U of M campus life. These selected students will understand the opportunity when they spend the five days on real world business issues and then see their name on a business card," said Dr. Stafford.
To apply, students must complete an application which will be available from March 1 until June 3, 5 p.m. CST, at memphis.edu/fcbe-sbi, or until spaces are filled. Applications are reviewed and accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. Cost to those students accepted is $50.
