For release: February 28, 2018
Dr. Tom Miller, associate dean for Faculty and Administration and professor of Management,
recently received the Best Case Award at the 2018 Southeast Case Research Association
Conference (SECRA) in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
SECRA is a collaborative organization of professors, primarily in the business disciplines, who support case research, writing, and teaching. His case, "Merit Pay: To Reward Performance or Value Tradition?" addressed the use of performance appraisal data in implementing merit pay increases. Specifically, the case focused on the controversy over absolute-dollar pay raises versus raises based on a percentage of base salary and examined the resulting behavioral and motivational consequences.
