Dr. Cyril Chang recognized as a "Health Economist Icon"

The Board of Directors of the Common Table Health Alliance will be recognizing Dr.
Cyril Chang as a "Health Economist Icon" at their 2018 Annual Meeting on Tuesday,
May 15, 2018 at the Racquet Club of Memphis. The Common Table Health Alliance is a
Memphis-based nonprofit, regional healthcare improvement collaborative serving 1.3
million people in the Greater Memphis metropolitan area.
Dr. Chang, professor of Economics and director of the Methodist Le Bonheur Center for Healthcare Economics, will be recognized for his years of service to health science research, education, health equity, and the community. Dr. Chang is the first person from the University of Memphis to be recognized by this great community health organization.

Dr. Chang has written a book and published more than 120 articles and book chapters on a wide range of economic and health services research topics. In 2004, Dr. Chang won the University of Memphis' Board of Visitors Eminent Faculty Award, the highest distinction given annually to one faculty member who has made sustained contributions to the University in scholarly activity, teaching, and service. He has also been a double recipient of the University's Distinguished Teaching Award and Distinguished Research Award. He is also a three-time winner of the Fogelman College's Suzanne Palmer Professorship for teaching, research and services, respectively. His current research interests include the impact of the Affordable Care Act, potentially avoidable hospitalizations, and evaluation of state health care innovation models.
