For release: May 5, 2017
Dr. Marla Royne Stafford, Great Oaks Foundation professor of Marketing and chair of
the Department of Marketing & Supply Chain Management, recently received the University
of Memphis' Alumni Association Distinguished Research Award in the Social Sciences,
Business, and Law.
Dr. Stafford also received this award in 2009 which is a particularly high honor, because former award winners may not be re-nominated within seven years of the first award and may not receive the award more than twice. The awards were presented last week at the annual Faculty Awards Luncheon where Dr. Stafford received a $2000 honorarium and a plaque.
The Alumni Association Distinguished Research Awards are given to award faculty who have brought honor and recognition to the University in their respective areas. Nominees are evaluated based on quality of scholarly contribution to the discipline; originality of contribution; recognition of work by peers; and external support if available in the discipline.
"Dr. Stafford is an excellent example of the high-performing professors and innovative researchers we strive to support here at Fogelman College," said Dr. Rajiv Grover, dean. "We are extremely proud of this accomplishment."
