Dr. Bill Kettinger, professor and the holder of the FedEx Chair of Excellence in Business Information & Technology, recently had his paper published in the European Journal of Information Systems. The paper entitled "Personal Information Management Effectiveness of Knowledge Workers: Conceptual Development and Empirical Validation" was coauthored with Dr. Yujong Hwang, associate professor at DePaul University, and Dr. Mun Yi, Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) .
The paper examined critical factors that contributed to knowledge workers' effective information management and consequent job performance. The research introduced a measure called Personal Information Management Effectiveness (PIME). PIME was found to have significant effects (41%) on job performance. Responding to recent calls for advanced research on personal information management, the measures in this study had practical value as research and diagnostic tools and the findings provided useful insights to help organizations improve knowledge workers' information management practices.
