For release:  February 26, 2015

Dr. Ben Kedia, the Robert Wang chair of Excellence in International Business, and Dr. Frances Fabian, associate professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship, were recently published in the Journal of World Business. The article, “Offshoring satisfaction: The role of partnership credibility and cultural complementarity” was co-authored with Dr. Jack Clampit, former FCBE management doctoral student and assistant professor at the University of Alabama, and Dr. Nolan Gaffney, former FCBE management doctoral student and assistant professor at the University of North Texas.

The research provided a comprehensive and integrative model for how cultural differences provide both benefits and obstacles to effectiveness in offshoring partnerships. A key point in the study was the importance of the offshoring goal as a prominent feature in regard to how problematic or beneficial cultural differences will be. Additionally, the dynamics of offshoring indicated that cultural differences will change in their impact over the course of a relationship. The paper added information towards the literature to illustrate how, when, and why culture affects offshoring partnerships.
