Scott McCormick, FCBE Alumnus, Named Executive Director

Memphis native and FCBE alum, Scott McCormick, was recently named executive director
of the Memphis Botanic Garden. As Executive Director, McCormick will oversee all operations
of the Garden, including all 96 acres that consist of 23 specialty gardens. Specialty
gardens include “My Big Back Yard,” the Japanese Garden, and the Rose Garden. He will
also be in charge of the buildings and facilities that host special events from weddings
and receptions, to corporate retreats and everything in between. The main event of
the Garden is “Live at the Garden” that hosts a series of concerts every summer.
Special acts have included The Band Perry, Goo Goo Dolls, Daughtry, Plain White Tees,
and many more.
McCormick graduated from Fogelman College of Business & Economics in 1982 with a degree in Finance. He credits his many accomplishments to FCBE and believes his education has opened many doors for him. He said, “The education I received in Finance has allowed me to pursue many opportunities.”
Being a Memphis native, he has had a professional career in business, government, and non-profit management. “I have tried to stay involved in our community and that’s what attracted me to the Garden. It is a great asset for Memphis and I’m excited about being a part of its next chapter,” said McCormick.”
