Economics Ph.D. Alumna Appointed Dean of Graduate School at University of the Pacific

Former Economics Ph.D. student, Dr. Andrea Vanina Farber was recently appointed to
the role of dean of the graduate school at the University of the Pacific. This decision
was made at the proposal of UP Rector Dr. Elsa Mary Catalina Del Castillo and approved
by the UP Postgraduate Management Committee.
"My goal as Dean is to manage the growth and quality of the Graduate School through leveraging assets and opening up new opportunities for internationalization, blended educational innovation, and education," said Dr. Farber.
Dr. Farber received her MBA and Ph.D. in Economics at the University of Memphis Fogelman College of Business and Economics. She works as a teacher, researcher, and consultant on issues related to economic development and corporate social responsibility.
"This is a very exciting occasion for Dr. Farber," said Bill Smith, chair of the Economics Department. "With her prior academic and professional experience, Dr. Farber is sure to flourish in her new role with the University of the Pacific."
Dr. Farber has conducted research and published in national and international peer review journals on issues of social responsibility with emphasis on labor issues and sustainable entrepreneurship and innovation in education and cross-gender issues.
