FCBE Faculty Receive Research Awards

Awards for the best academic papers published by FCBE faculty in 2013-2014 were recently
announced at the fall Fogelman faculty and staff meeting. The awards are given each
year in two categories of research: Empirical and Conceptual/Theoretical. The Ph.D.
Sub-Council for Graduate Studies and Research reviews and evaluates the nominated
papers and judges them for their overall quality and contribution to the respective
disciplines. The first place winner in each category receives a plaque and $1,000;
the second place winner receives a plaque and $500.
In the Empirical Category, the first place winner was Dr. Alan Bush for his article entitled, "Are Your Salespeople Coachable? How Salesperson Coachability, Trait Competitiveness, and Transformational Leadership Enhance Sales Performance." The article was published in the Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science and was co-authored by Kirby L. J. Shannahan and Rachelle J. Shannahan.
The second place winner was Dr. Bill Smith for his article entitled, "Saving-based Asset-pricing." The article was published in the Journal of Banking & Finance and was co-authored by Johannes K. Dreyer and Johannes Schneider.
In the Conceptual/Theoretical Category, the first place winner was again Dr. Alan Bush for his article entitled, "Making Sense of the Customer's Role in the Personal Selling Process: A Theory of Organizing and Sensemaking Perspective." The article was published in the Journal of Personal Selling & Sales Management and was co-authored by Rachelle J. Shannahan, William C. Moncrief and Kirby l. J. Shannahan.
The second place winner was Dr. Frances Fabian for her article entitled, "IT-enabled Interorganizational Information Sharing Under Co-opetition in Disasters: A Game-Theoretic Framework." The article was published in the Communications of the Association for Information Systems and was co-authored by Tina Wakolbinger and William J. Kettinger.
