Training Workshops: Business Leaders Series
Organizations of all types need leaders who possess strong interpersonal skills. Designed for business leaders at any level, this series will help participants gain practical skills in making cases for change, communication and negotiation that can be immediately applied in the workplace. The workshops in this series will emphasize practice and feedback through self-assessments, hands-on exercises and activities, group discussions and roleplays. These courses are offered online and face-to-face (see specific course for details). You may register for any or all of these courses as registration dates become available.
Making a Case for ChangeIt’s often lamented but true that the only constant is change. COVID-19 reinforced the need for organizations to not only be reactive to change but be proactive in preparing for, planning for, and instituting change. A critical skill-set for emergent business leaders is to effectively present the business case for change. This broad skill set includes competencies such as understanding the nature of change, assessing readiness for change, identifying champions and sponsors, creating and communicating a vision for success and building and presenting the business case. Communication for Business LeadersPart I: Communicate with Impact and Create an Inclusive WorkplaceSuccessful business leaders can skillfully communicate in any situation. Discover your personal communication style and strengthen essential relationships through participating in this interactive class that will help you gain an impactful presence and lead team members to action. Designed for business leaders at any level, you will learn how to engage team members across diverse groups to reach consensus, practice active listening skills, uncover unconscious and implicit biases and use power words to enhance inclusivity in the workplace. Communication for Business LeadersPart II: Strategies for a more Engaged, Cooperative WorkplaceEffective business leaders need to be able to adapt their communication style, depending on what type of communication is required. Whether you engage in face-to-face communication or computer-mediated discussions ... whether you are trying to influence your team to achieve a goal or have a difficult conversation with an employee who needs feedback, there are evidence-based techniques that can improve your ability to communicate, no matter the situation. This program is designed for emerging business leaders across levels who want to learn strategies to improve across all communication situations. You will learn practical approaches and key skills for eliciting information, engaging agile teams through effective debriefs and feedback, improving executive presence and communicating more effectively with their peers, teams, superiors and customers to accelerate positive outcomes. Negotiation for Business LeadersNegotiating a CrisisThis combination lecture/working seminar will help participants learn how to be prepared to engage in a negotiation during crisis situations, whether they are natural- or man-made, whether between two or multiple parties. A range of techniques, tips, tactics, and strategies will be shared to help handle both subjective and objective challenges that can occur during in less-than-ideal circumstances. Session participants will engage in a practice negotiation involving a humanitarian-based crisis. Negotiation for Business LeadersNegotiating Across CulturesThis combination lecture/working seminar focuses on how to negotiate with counterparts who look, sound, think, and act differently than you. One of the first steps is recognizing the emotional influences that biases, uncertainties, and preconceived judgments have that can prevent successful outcomes. Practice exercises will help participants become more adept at collaborating with others.
