College of Education Introduces Eight New Faculty
September 10, 2024 - The University of Memphis College of Education has begun the Fall 2024 semester with eight new additions to their faculty ranks, including six new hires and two faculty members assuming new roles.
“It’s exciting to bring on these exceptional new faculty members to our college,” said COE Dean Dr. Mike Miller. “Their diverse expertise and passion for teaching will significantly enhance the quality of education and research across our three departments.
These new hires represent our commitment to excellence and innovation in preparing future educators, counselors and leaders. We are confident that their contributions will advance our mission and inspire both our students and colleagues alike.”
In the Department of Leadership, Dr. Meg Evans joins the Higher Education and Adult Learning (HIAD) program. With a PhD in College Student Affairs Administration from the University of Georgia, Dr. Evans will be teaching HIAD 7440 – Student Personnel Services in Higher Education.
For the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology & Research (CEPR), two new hires were made, Dr. Kola Brown and Allyson Graham. Brown is a homegrown product of UofM’s Counselor Educator and Supervision PhD program, hooded at the August 2024 commencement. She assumes the role of assistant professor of rehabilitation counseling. Whereas Graham received her PhD from North Carolina A&T, Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation Counselor Education and Supervision. She joins CEPR in the role of clinical assistant professor of counseling.
Finally, the Department of Instruction and Curriculum Leadership (ICL) welcomes three new hires: Drs. Jasmyn Jones, Kayla Larkin and Lara Condon. Jones, who received her PhD from Old Dominion University, joins ICL’s Literacy program as an assistant professor. Larkin, with her PhD from the University of Miami, is now an assistant professor in the Special Education program, and Condon, who received her PhD from the University of Pennsylvania, is an assistant professor of math education.
ICL also had two current faculty members assume new roles within the department. Dr. Keishana Barnes is now an assistant professor of special education, and Dr. George Falls, who teaches at UofM’s Lambuth Campus in Jackson, assumes the role of clinical assistant professor of special education.
These additions bring the college’s total faculty count to 76.
