Miller Named as New Dean of College of Education
MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The University of Memphis College of Education named higher education veteran Michael T. Miller as its new dean, announced today.
With a career in higher education spanning nearly four decades, Miller comes to the UofM from the University of Arkansas, where he was the David and Jane Gearhart Endowed Faculty Fellow. He most recently served as dean of the College of Education and Health Professions at the University of Arkansas.
Prior to the University of Arkansas, Miller held leadership roles at Southern Illinois University, the University of Nebraska, the University of Alabama and San Jose State University.
He earned his bachelor's degree in Political Science and his master's degree in Higher Education, both from Southern Illinois and received his doctoral degree in Postsecondary Education from Nebraska.

I’ve had relationships with faculty in the college for the past 35 years and have witnessed their commitment to the students and the community, which I truly appreciate. His scholarly research includes a focus on educational outcomes related to access to postsecondary education and community colleges. An author of two books, Miller has been on approximately 150 doctoral dissertation committees and is an editorial reviewer for several peer-reviewed journals.

Miller will assume his new role at the University on July 1.
