LEAD Master's Student Receives Scholarship from A Step Ahead
MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Asia French, a master’s student in the College of Education’s Department of Leadership, got the news this month that she would be this year’s recipient for one of the A Step Ahead scholarships. She’d been waiting two months for the news and now feels the result is well worth the wait.
The scholarship is one of the general scholarships for the A Step Ahead Foundation, this one being in partnership with Girls Inc. Memphis, in the amount of $2,000. Normally, these scholarships go to paying tuition, but French is currently a staff member at UofM. The university covers her tuition but not her books and material fees. French, as one can imagine, is now relieved to have those expenses covered.
“This scholarship means so much to me,” she said. “Receiving this scholarship will provide me with additional piece of mind and security to help cover my textbooks and additional college expenses. I’m very thankful and grateful for this opportunity.”
French is currently halfway through the Student Affairs Administration MS program and anticipates to graduate in December 2025.
