Program Overview
MA in Economics offers concrete skills in business analytics, data handling and analysis
techniques, cost-benefit analysis, and general problem-solving skills. In the age
of big data, these skills have become invaluable, not just for specific jobs as economists
or technical analysts, but for managers as well. The MA in Economics degree is correspondingly
becoming increasingly popular and recognized.
Program Outline

33 credit hours of graduate coursework consisting of the following:
Economics Core (21 credit hours)
- ECON 6315
- ECON 6810
- ECON 7125
- ECON 7300
- ECON 7310
- ECON 7320
- ECON 7810
Elective Courses (12 credit hours)
- Maximum 9 credit hours at the 6000 level, with the rest at the 7000 or 8000 level.
- May be offered by other related departments at the graduate level and must be approved by the MA coordinator.
- Courses in the core MBA curriculum are not eligible.

A STEM-Designated Degree
The MA in Economics is a STEM-designated degree according to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. International students completing the program may apply for three (3) years of work
in the United States through the extended OPT program.
