Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Economics

Program Overview

 

Economics is a versatile degree qualifying you for a wide range of career choices.  It instills habits of critical thinking and decision-making, and provides research and analytical skills, that are valued in many professions.  Economics majors find jobs in finance, banking, investment banking, sales and marketing, insurance and actuarial science, public administration, labor relations, foreign affairs, and journalism.

 

Degree Outline

 

  1. General Education Courses = 41 hours
    • Communication = 9 hours
    • Humanities / Fine Arts = 9 hours (At least one course must be in literature.)
    • Social / Behavioral Sciences = 6 hours
      • ECON 2010 & ECON 2020 are required in this section
    • History = 6 hours
    • Natural Sciences = 8 hours
    • Mathematics = 3 hours

  2. College and Degree Requirements = 42 hours
    1. Lower Division Business Courses: 12 hours
    2. Upper Division Business Courses: 30 hours

  3. The Major = 24 hours

  4. Electives = 13 hours (or as needed to bring the total hours earned to 120 minimum.)

 

Honors Program


All students who receive a minimum grade of B (3.0) in ECON 2010 or 2020 honors sections are eligible for the program. Entry to the program can also be obtained through the recommendation of a member of the faculty to the Department of Economics Honors Committee.

A student must maintain a grade point average of at least 3.25 in economics to continue in the program and must have a minimum grade point average of 3.5 in economics to graduate with honors in economics. Honor students write a senior research paper. At commencement they are awarded the special distinction "With Honors in Economics.” Details of the program are available at the department office.
