Confidentiality & Consenting to Release Information

DRS records are governed by FERPA. We are only allowed to share information on a need-to-know basis. This means that your connection to DRS and accommodation information will only be shared with others who have a role in implementing your accommodations. DRS does not release information about accommodation plans to those, such as parents or significant others, who do not play a primary role in the accommodation process. Likewise, we do not reveal a student’s affiliation with DRS or share information about specific diagnoses without written consent from a student.

When you completed the Student Introduction Form prior to completing your initial appointment, you were asked if you agree to allow your DRS coordinator to appear in Banner and Navigate as a part of your student success team. This written consent allows other members of your success team, such as academic or athletic advisors and faculty to see your affiliation with DRS.

If you want to consent to release information about your accommodations or disability information to others, such as parents or off campus entities, complete the Information Release Consent by logging into your DRS Online student portal and choosing Information Release Consent from the navigation menu.
