NEW ASL FACULTY: ISAACS

Anthony Isaacs headshot

Mr. Isaacs brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the American Sign Language (ASL) program at the School of Communication Sciences and Disorders. He received a B.S. in Computer Information Systems and a B.A. in Psychology from Gallaudet University, the world’s only university specifically designed to accommodate Deaf and hard-of-hearing students. He later earned his M.S. in Deaf Education from McDaniel College, building on his commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments.

Mr. Isaacs began teaching ASL at the college level in 2008 as an adjunct instructor, where he discovered his passion for sharing language and culture through education. Drawn by the impact he could have in higher education, he transitioned from K-12 Deaf education to focus on developing future generations of ASL learners and advocates.

In his first year at the University of Memphis, Mr. Isaacs is excited to “collaborate with the talented ASL faculty team to strengthen the ASL and Deaf Studies program.” He is also committed to building meaningful connections with the Deaf community in Memphis and surrounding areas, ensuring students benefit from real-world experiences that enhance their ASL skills and cultural understanding.
