Intimate Partner Violence
Intimate partner violence (IPV) refers to physical, sexual or psychological harm by a current or former partner or spouse. This type of violence can occur among heterosexual or same-sex couples and does not require sexual contact. Dating violence is a type of intimate partner violence. Behaviors associated with IPV often include:
- Coercion and threats
- Intimidation
- Emotional abuse
- Isolation
- Minimizing, denying and blaming
