About
Christopher D. Harris, affectionately known as Chris, is a PhD student in Communication and Rhetoric at the University of Memphis. Chris’s research interests include African American Rhetoric, African-American Lit Theory, Rhetorical Criticism, and Religious Communication. He is guided by an interdisciplinary framework that (re) imagines discourses in theology, sociology, narratives, and cultural theory.
He has served in various roles, including as an associate minister at Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church (Nashville, Tennessee) under Reverend Dr. John R. Faison Sr. In addition, Chris has served as a Pastoral Intern at First Baptist Church, Capitol Hill, and as a Youth Intern at West End United Methodist Church. Chris also served in various roles, such as a Graduate Assistant at The University of Memphis. Chris is currently the President of the Graduate Student Association for the University of Memphis Graduate. In addition, he currently serves as a Pastoral Resident/Intern and assistant to the pastor at Christ Missionary Baptist Church in Memphis, Tennessee, under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Gina M. Stewart.
