Kellie Cartstensen
ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (COMMUNICATION STUDIES)
About
Kellie Carstensen is an Assistant Professor of Communication. She has a masters and a PhD in Communication from the University of Colorado, Boulder. Her areas of expertise are applied ethnography, nonprofits, and religious culture. Previous research topics include cultural accommodation in English language education, communication activism, language socialization, dissent in Christian churches, and mental health. Currently, Dr. Carstensen is examining how faith-based organizations can improve their community development practices and systems of evaluation to acknowledge postcolonial differences in power. She has received awards from the Ethnography division of the National Communication Association, the division of Language and Social Interaction in the International Communication Association, and the Center for Teaching and Learning at the University of Colorado.
