Accessing the Far Field Database

This database was created by Nathan Moran in conjunction with Arch Johnston as a way to document the extent of the New Madrid earthquakes.  It  contains the far field report data  for the New Madrid earthquakes from over 100 newspapers of the 1811-1812 time period in the United States.  The window of time covered is from December 1811 to December 1812. The geographic coverage is all available American newspapers for the states south and west of Pennsylvania.  The links below will let you search the database and view images and transcripts of the reports.
