About Dr. Mueller

Dr. Mueller’s research focuses on understanding how student-level beliefs (mindset, motivation, identity) can make at-risk students (e.g., gifted, adolescent, low-SES) more resilient in the face of adversity. Practically, he focuses on exploring strengths-based approaches to enhancing development of these beliefs through effective parent and teacher interventions. Theoretically, his work draws primarily from social-cognitive theory, ecological/systems theory, and positive psychology. Much of his work has been explored in the context of K-12 schools.
