About Dr. Brown
Dr. Kola Brown is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling in the Department of Counseling, Educational Psychology and Research, as well as a Licensed Associate Counselor (Arkansas) and Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She has worked as a mental health clinician and forensic vocational consultant in private practice for over ten years. Her prior work experience has spanned individual counseling, assisting people with disabilities in job skills training and placement as well as expert witness testimony for injured workers and disability benefits applicants. Currently, Dr. Brown teaches courses in both rehabilitation and clinical mental health counseling concentrations.
Dr. Brown’s research interests include exploring intimate partner violence within communities of color, identities of masculinity within Black men, and accommodation implementation of students with disabilities in higher education. She is a member of the American Counseling Association, Association for Counselor Education and Supervision, American Rehabilitation Counseling Association, Association on Higher Education and Disability, and serves on the Standards and Exam Committee for the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification.
