Dr. Holman has worked in school, community, and forensic settings with trauma, addictions, and interpersonal violence perpetrators and victims for over 20 years and as a counselor educator for over a decade. She is the past president of the International Association of Addiction and Offender Counselors (IAAOC), a recipient of their Outstanding Professional Award for contributions to the profession and has served on the IAAOC board for 9 years. Dr. Holman is also a board member for the Association of Child and Adolescent Counseling and IAAOC's representative on the ACA's Governing Council. In the past she has served as the Governing Council Liaison to the ACA Ethics Committee and the ACA Taskforce on Averting Addiction and Promoting Mental Health, served as the Associate Editor of Theory and Practice for the Journal of Mental Health Counseling, and served on the editorial boards for the Journal of Addiction and Offender Counseling, Journal of Mental Health Counseling, Counseling and Values, and Research in Schools. Dr. Holman has published and presented internationally on neurosequential interventions, forensic mental health counseling, counselor job stress and burnout, the school to prison pipeline, as well as counselor education and supervision topics.
