Research
Dr. Bryna Bobick received the 2017 University of Memphis College of Communication and Fine Arts Dean's Award for Excellence in Engaged Scholarship. She most recently published "Handbook of Research on the Facilitation of Civic Engagement through Community Art" (co-edited with Leigh Hersey, IGI Global, 2017).
Prof. Beth Edwards received the 2017 University of Memphis Alumni Association Distinguished Teaching Awards. Her most recent major exhibition was Encounters: Beth Edwards, April 9 – July 16, 2017 Grisham Gallery in the Huntsville Museum of Art, Huntsville, AL.
Dr. Earnestine Jenkins received the 2017 University of Memphis College of Communication and Fine Arts Dean's Award for Outstanding Research. She most recently published, "Race, Representation, and Photography in 19th Century Memphis: From Emancipation to Jim Crow" (Ashgate 2016).
Professor and Chair Richard A. Lou received the 2017 University of Memphis Alumni Association Distinguished Achievement in the Creative Arts. Lou was also recognized this year by his alma mater Clemson University where he received his MFA in 1986. On March 31, 2017 he was inducted as part of the Founding Class of the College of Architecture, Arts, and Humanities Hall of Fame for his contributions to the fine arts.
Professor Todd Richardson received the University of Memphis College of Communication and Fine Arts Benjamin W. Rawlins, Jr. Meritorious Professorship Award. Aug. 19 will be the official inauguration of Crosstown Concourse, a 200+ Million dollar effort co-directed by Todd Richardson.
Community Partnerships
Collaboration with the Dixon Gallery and Gardens and the SCS elementary and middle schools to offer students an exciting, free summer art camp, held on the U of M campus.
