Audiology Requirements
- Graduates of clinical audiology programs earn a Doctor of Audiology (AuD) and are licensed clinicians providing hearing, balance, tinnitus, hearing devices, and speech perception services for all ages and populations.
- Tennessee has four accredited programs in clinical audiology:
- ETSU’s Doctor of Audiology program in the College of Health Sciences
- University of Memphis' Audiology program in the School of Communication Sciences & Disorders
- University of Tennessee's Doctor of Audiology program in the College of Health Professions
- Vanderbilt's Doctor of Audiology program in the School of Medicine
- Completion of a bachelor's degree in CSD is typically required for most programs; the UofM’s AuD program accepts applications from students who have completed a bachelor’s degree with any undergraduate major.
- UofM’s AuD program accepts one cohort per year that starts the program in August. This in-person program includes three years of academic coursework and clinical training in Memphis, including summers, followed by a 4th year full-time extern experience to prepare students for professional success.
- Applicants with a strong science background and leadership experience will be highly competitive candidates because those qualities contribute to a successful experience in our program.
