University of Memphis College of Arts & Sciences

The College of Arts & Sciences (CAS) at the University of Memphis is the hub of scholarship and education in the humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. We are the largest college at the University of Memphis, with over 4,000 undergraduate and 1,000 graduate students enrolled in degree programs offered by CAS academic units.

At CAS, we pride ourselves on providing individual attention to our students. With over 600 faculty members, we offer small class sizes, with an average of 30 students per class. Many CAS students work closely with faculty on research teams, contributing to scholarship in their fields and gaining valuable professional experience. Additionally, students can explore career options through internships and experiential learning projects. Every CAS student has unique experiences, but all have the chance to pursue opportunities that align with their personal and professional goals.

CAS can help jumpstart your career after graduation by offering exceptional pathways to careers and professional programs. We have guaranteed interview agreements with area health professional programs, 3+3 programs with law school, 3+4 programs with pharmacy school, and accelerated bachelor’s to master’s tracks that allow students to complete two degrees in five-year plans.

Our goal is to continue preparing our students to tackle complex local and global issues, equipping them with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed.
