Mar is a dedicated higher education professional committed to creating inclusive and supportive learning environments. With a passion for lifelong learning and a deep understanding of the diverse needs of students, Mar is committed to empowering individuals to reach their full potential.

They are a graduate of Arkansas State University with their bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies in History & Education. Their master’s is in College Student Personnel Services. During the fall semester, they teach the Academic Strategies course to incoming freshman on campus. 

Currently serving as the Director of the Board for Mid-South Trans Nation, Board member of Mid-South Pride & a volunteer with Friends of Georges Theater group, Mar brings a unique perspective to higher education by bridging the gap between academia and community engagement. Their work in supporting the LGBTQ+ community aligns with their belief in fostering a welcoming and inclusive campus culture.

Beyond their professional role, Mar is a proud parent of 3 and pet dad to Beau the Beagle & Lucy the black cat. They are a Memphis Grizzlies, Chicago Cubs, Las Vegas Aces, & Atlanta Braves fan. Their diverse interests and experiences contribute to a holistic approach to student success.
