Faculty, PhD Students Present at 2024 World Biomaterials Congress
Drs. Gary Bowlin, Joel D. Bumgardner and J. Amber Jennings, professors in biomedical engineering attended and presented papers at the 2024 World Biomaterials Congress in Daegu, South Korea with biomedical engineering graduate students. Dr. Bowlin presented work of PhD graduate, William Hunter King entitled “Semi-unstable Near-field Electrospinning: Providing Capacity for Cellular Interactions and Ingrowth within the Template Superstructure Framework Voids/Pores.” Alex Bryan and A. Blass Watson, PhD graduate students working with Dr. Bumgardner presented research on “Analysis of in vitro and in vivo skin wound healing efficacy of crosslinked electrospun chitosan-gelatin-elastin membranes” and “Composite Photopolymerizable Bio-ink with Magnetic Collagen Fibers Characterization for Guided Muscle Regeneration” respectively. Jermiah Tate and Tibirni Yusuf, PhD graduate students with Dr. Jennings presented research on “Thicker Electro-spun Chitosan Membranes Loaded with Antimicrobial Fatty Acid Yield Less Burst Release and Reduced Planktonic Candida albicans” and “Efficacy of Electrospun Chitosan Membranes with C2DA in preventing infectivity in an in-vivo composite tissue infection model” respectively. Dr. Jennings also presented research on “A Bioactive Chitosan-Xylan Composite Loaded With and Delivering Naturally Occurring Fatty Acids to Control Infection.”
