STRIDE Workshops           Aspired

Overview

STRIDE (Strategies and Tactics for Recruiting to Improve Diversity and Excellence) is an hour long, interactive workshop designed to provide attendees with strategies and tactics that will maximize the likelihood that well-qualified and diverse candidates will be identified and recruited for faculty positions at UofM.  Each workshop is co-facilitated by faculty who are members of the STRIDE committee. During the workshop, participants learn about best practices to ensure a fair and equitable search process and to minimize the influence of implicit bias. The workshops are intended for search committee chairs, search committee members, and department heads. All faculty serving on a faculty search committee are required to complete the workshop within one year of the time they are appointed to a search committee.

The STRIDE Handbook is designed to help faculty search committee members with the search process.  The objective of the handbook is to provide evidence-based practices to increase the diversity of applicant pools, to ensure the fair and equitable review of all candidates, and to demonstrate that UofM is committed to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and supportive environment for all faculty, staff, and students.
