The Department of Military Science (Army ROTC) provides instruction designed to provide qualified college men and women with practical experience in the art of organizing, motivating and leading others. We commission U.S Army Officers of Character into the Total Army (Active Duty, Army Reserve, National Guard) willing and able to lead America's Soldiers. Any student from one of our participating schools (Memphis, Rhodes, Cristian Brothers, Lamoyne-Owen, UT Health Science) can participate in Army ROTC at the University of Memphis without any obligation to any Armed Services, no need to enlist, it is just a college course. It is the best leadership course you can take.

Army ROTC faculty are active duty Army personnel detailed by Department of the Army and approved by the University president.
