Welcome Prospective Students

Thank you for your interest in Air Force ROTC Detachment 785 at The University of Memphis. Our program offers not only education in the field of Aerospace Studies, but also the opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork skills that will serve you well for the rest of your life.

With an Cadre to Cadet ratio of less than 9:1, Detachment 785 is able to provide more individualized training and development to each of our Cadets.  Our smaller size also means more opportunities for Cadets to take on various leadership positions throughout their time in AFROTC.

Academically, The University of Memphis has a number of ranked programs, including the Herff School of Engineering, which recently attained Carnegie 1 status as a result of the cutting-edge research taking place every day.  The University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law is listed as a “Best Law School for Trial Advocacy,” with an A- rating amongst all law schools and is housed in PreLaw Magazine’s #1 ranked facility in the nation, a distinction it has held for 5 years in a row (Link to Article Here)! The Loewenberg College of Nursing offers eight teaching labs with fully functioning simulator manikins and access to a robust healthcare community in Memphis that includes 25 hospitals and one of the world’s leading healthcare research facilities.  The Fogleman College of Business and Economics holds accreditation by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business, an honor earned by less than 5% of business schools world-wide!  Finally, for those interested in flying careers…The University of Memphis offers a Bachelor of Science degree in Commercial Aviation.

Even if you’re not thinking about attending the University of Memphis, that’s ok!  We have agreements with Rhodes College and Christian Brothers University where students from those schools can participate in AFROTC through Detachment 785.

If you are considering the US Space Force as a way to serve, we commission 2nd Lieutenants into the Space Force as well as the Air Force.
