MS in Accounting with Business Analysis and Reporting concentration

Program Overview


The 30-hour master’s program provides students with a corporate governance perspective that emphasizes accounting in a service-oriented economy. 

Prerequisites for the Master of Science degree in Accounting requires a grade of C or better in following courses (or their equivalents):

  • ACCT 2010 - Financial Accounting
  • ACCT 3100 - Foundations of Accounting
  • ACCT 3110 - Intermediate Accounting I
  • ACCT 3120 - Intermediate Accounting II
  • ACCT 3310 - Intermediate Managerial Accounting
  • ACCT 3320 - Accounting Analytics I
  • ACCT 4020 - Accounting Systems
  • ACCT 4521 - Individual Tax Compliance/Plan
  • ACCT 4240 - Audit/Assurance Services
  • SCMS 3711 - Business Analytics

 

Degree Outline

 

  • A minimum of 30 semester hours of approved graduate courses.
  • The 30 graduate credits must include at least 21 hours in Accounting, with no more than 9 hours of 6000 level courses.
  • An internship does not count as credit toward the degree but is reported on the transcript.

  1. Accounting Core - 12 hours
    • ACCT 6211 - Adv Financial & Gov Reporting*
    • ACCT 7242 - Advanced Auditing
    • ACCT 7521 - Taxation/Bus Entities
    • ACCT 7322 - Advanced Managerial Acct

  2. Business Analysis & Reporting - 12 hours
    • ACCT 7312 - Accounting Data Analytics II
    • ACCT 7232 - Emerging Attestations
    • ACCT 7140 - Financial Statement Analysis
    • MIS 7660 - Advanced Data Management

  3. Additional Electives = as needed to bring the total hours earned to a minimum of 30.

*If the student had earlier passed ACCT 4211, then they must substitute a 3-hour Accounting elective approved by the MS-Accounting Advisor.
