Dr. Nicole Detraz, Department of Political Science
Dr. Nicole Detraz joined the Political Science department in 2009. She specializes
in international relations, and environmental politics. Her research centers on the
intersections of security, the environment, and gender. She was awarded the W. Russell
Smith Award for Teaching Excellence in 2015, the Alumni Association Distinguished
Teaching Award in 2014, and the College of Arts and Sciences Early Career Research
Award in 2013. She teaches courses on scope and methods of Political Science, theories
of international relations, international conflict and security, and global environmental
politics. She is the author of Gender and the Environment (2017- Polity Press), Environmental
Security and Gender (2014- Routledge), and International Security and Gender (2012-
Polity Press). Dr. Detraz's research has also appeared in numerous journals, such
as Security Studies, Global Environmental Politics, International Interactions, and
Human Rights Review.

Dr. Stephen Tabachnick, Department of English
Dr. Stephen Tabachnick is a professor in the department of English, where he served
as department chair for eight years. He was previously a professor and department
chair at the University of Oklahoma, Tennessee Technological University, and the Ben-Guiron
University of the Negev. He has also held visiting positions at UCLA and San Diego
State University. Dr. Tabachnick has authored and edited several books on literary
figures such as Harold Pinter, Charles Doughty, Rex Warner, and T. E. Lawrence. More
recently, he has contributed significantly to the scholarly literature on the graphic
novel. He serves as faculty advisor to the Hillel House.
