Milton Howery III known as “Milton Memphis” on-air has been a member of the WUMR team
since 2009. However, in 2010 Milton Memphis took a ten month leave from WUMR to work
for the Black Entertainment Television (BET) network, as their marketing representative
intern. Milton’s marketing efforts for BET proved to be very successful. The network
named him their “Top Marketing Representative” intern for their network out of forty
college students across the country. After, completing his internship with BET and
graduating from two colleges Milton Memphis returned to WUMR in June of 2011. He received
a Bachelor’s in Communications from the University of Memphis, and received an Associate’s
Degree in Computer Engineering from Southwest Tennessee Community College.
Milton Memphis got his start in radio back in 2005 working for Bott Radio Network
on WCRV –AM640. Then, in 2007 he left Bott Radio Network to become the morning show
producer for the “ Mike and Mandy Morning Show” on WRVR The River 104.5 FM. Milton
Memphis also spent some time working for Memphis City Schools radio station 88.5FM.

he’s a frequent special contributor to the newspaper.
Explanation of the name “Milton Memphis” “I spent five years working for the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau as a visitor’s
counselor. Working as a visitor counselor deepened the respect and admiration for
the city I was born and raised in. My friends and family always get annoyed with my
random facts about Memphis. So, they started calling me “Milton Memphis” and I just
ran with the new nick name. I think it’s perfect for radio.”
