ACCUPLACER
The ACCUPLACER is an untimed, computer-adaptive assessment that is given in order to determine the best course placement in the areas of Math, English and Reading. It provides students and their advisor with important information about educational preparation and is a good beginning toward the achievement of academic goals. Placement testing should be taken before seeing an advisor or attending New Student Orientation.
Prospective U of Memphis students, placement testing is required for the following:
- Students whose ACT (SAT) scores are more than 5 years old or Accuplacer scores more than 3 years old
- Transfer students with no college level credit in English
- Non-degree seeking students before enrollment in English
- Students with no ACT/SAT scores.
- Testing covers 3 sections:
- Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra, and Statistics
- Reading
- Writing

The ACCUPLACER exam is offered on site by appointment only at the University of Memphis Main Campus (Memphis, TN) as well as the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus (Jackson TN). ACCUPLACER though Meazure Learning's ProctorU is offered online and can be taken by registering through the University of Memphis Main Campus (Memphis, TN) scheduler below.

The fee to take the ACCUPLACER exam as a current or prospective U of Memphis student is $25 + service fee and can be paid through our secure payment link below. (Please note that you must schedule your exam 72 hours prior to your requested test date and cancel without refund or reschedule your exam 24 hours before your scheduled date/time).

The fee to take the ACCUPLACER though Meazure Learning's ProctorU exam as a current or prospective U of Memphis student is $50 + service fee and can be paid through our secure payment link at the bottom of this page. (Please note that you must pay for your exam 72 hours prior in order to allow for setup of your exam and cancel without refund or reschedule your exam 24 hours before your scheduled date/time). A valid University of Memphis UID# is required for ACCUPLACER registration, if you do not know your university issued UID#, please contact the office of admissions (901.678.2111). Failure to provide a valid UID# during registration (all zeros are not permitted), will result in your exam fee forfeited and you will be required to reschedule.
REMOTE ACCUPLACER - how to take the ACCUPLACER for another institution

The ACCUPLACER REMOTE exam is offered at the University of Memphis Main Campus (Memphis, TN) as well as the University of Memphis Lambuth Campus (Jackson TN) by appointment only.

The fee to take the ACCUPLACER REMOTE exam for another institution is $30 + service fee and can be paid through our secure payment link below. Failure to submit the appropriate fee payment will affect your testing and you will be required to reschedule. (Please note that appointments must be made 48 hours prior to your requested test date.
- On exam day, please bring with you the following: Valid government issued photo identification, your ACCUPLACER REMOTE voucher number (if applicable) and your student ID# that has been assigned to you by your institution.

Want to have your U of Memphis placement scores sent to another institution?
To have your placement scores sent to another university, please fax to the Testing Center (901) 678-2745 or email (cwade3@memphis.edu) a written request to release your scores and a copy of valid government issued photo identification. In your request, please be sure to provide the correct information of where your scores should be sent. Please note: placement score reports will only be forwarded to another academic institution.
