COLLEGE LEVEL EXAMINATION PROGRAM (CLEP)

The College-Level Examination Program® (CLEP) offers you the opportunity to receive college credit while saving time and money. Depending on your University, examinees are able to earn qualifying scores on up to 33 introductory-level college subject examinations. CLEP exams are approximately 90 minute exams, which cost $80 each. 

The College Level Examination Program (CLEP) is a computerized exam that is offered on a walk-in basis and is administered in room 111 of the Brister Hall/ Wilder Tower complex. The CLEP administration fee is $25.00 and is offered between the hours of 8:30am – 1:30pm on the dates specified below (unless otherwise specified on the calendar).  

CLEP REGISTRATION PROCEDURES: 

  • Create your personal account and pay the $80.00 exam fee through the CLEP My Account registration portal.  The registration platform will allow you to register for a CLEP exam 24/7, manage your personal information any time prior to taking the exam, select your score recipient institution, and purchase study materials.
  • Visit the UofM Testing Center website, http://www.memphis.edu/testing/clep.php for exam dates and to pay the $20.00 exam fee through our convenient online payment system (Note: Exam fees must be paid through the online payment system).
  • Prepare for exam (center recommendations): InstantCert, Research Education Association and Petersons.
  • On the day of test, please report to Brister Hall Room 111:
    • Have your printed U of M payment receipt (without a printed proof of payment, examinees will not be admitted into the exam and all applicable fees will be forfeited.)
    • Two forms of ID:
      • Primary: Valid government issued with name, photo and signature
      • Secondary: Valid ID with either photo or signature:
        • Current Student ID, unused Primary ID, College Board ID Form (found on CLEP website) 
    • Have your proof of purchase "Voucher Number" (provided by CLEP)
  • CLEP score reports will be available immediately following the exam (exception: College Composition)
