U of M Student Activities Council Sponsors Events for Domestic Violence Week Oct. 6-10 University News

The first full week of October, Oct. 6-10, is Domestic Violence Week, a time to spotlight the prevalence of domestic violence in America and to explore ways to deal with and overcome domestic violence. The University of Memphis Student Activities Council is sponsoring a series of events that week to give the campus and community a better understanding of this serious issue. Students, faculty, staff, and the public are invited to attend. All events are free of charge.

The calendar includes:

Monday, Oct. 6, through Friday, Oct. 10 - The Clothesline Project, with T-shirt displays in the rotunda of the Ned R. McWherter Library each day

Monday, Oct. 6
– Movie Night, “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café,” 7 p.m., Panhellenic Building Ballroom

Tuesday, Oct. 7
– Self-Esteem Workshop, 1 p.m., Panhellenic Building, Room 104

Wednesday, Oct. 8
– Healthy Relationships Workshop, 2:30 p.m., Panhellenic Building, Room 104.

Wednesday, Oct. 8 – Keynote speakers Kelly & Becca, “Let's Talk About “IT!”, 7:00 p.m., Rose Theatre

Thursday, Oct. 9
– Survivors Panel, 6 p.m., Panhellenic Building, Room 104
