The University of Memphis has named David Zettergren as vice president of business and finance. Zettergren received his
master’s degree in accountancy from the U of M in 1980 and became a Certified Public
Accountant in 1982. He worked at Ernst & Whinney CPA firm until 1985, when he joined
the U of M. At the University, Zettergren has worked in several positions within the
Division of Business and Finance, including director of accounting and assistant vice
president for finance.
Since October 2008, he has been serving as the interim vice president for Business
and Finance and as a member of the executive team at the University. Zettergren is
serving as a member of the board of directors for the Better Business Bureau. He has
been an active member of the Southern Association of College and University Business
Officers, serving on the Research and Doctoral Committee. He also is a member of the
National Association of College and University Business Officers and will be serving
on the Research Universities Committee during this year.
“It is a privilege to be able to appoint an alum with a CPA who has served the University
so ably for more than 25 years and has led the Business and Finance Division for nearly
two years. Under his leadership, the Business and Finance Division has had a clean
audit from the State of Tennessee Comptroller’s Office,” said U of M President Shirley
Raines.
“Our University of Memphis staff are first-class, and I am honored to continue to
serve with such a dedicated, professional group,” said Zettergren.
