Winsett received her B.S. degree in human and organizational development from Vanderbilt
University in 1994 and her J.D. degree in 1997 from the U of M’s Cecil C. Humphreys

After graduation, Winsett practiced insurance defense litigation at Shuttleworth,

Dunlap and Cobb, where she primarily handled medical malpractice defense litigation.
Winsett later went to work for Allen, Scruggs, Sossaman, Thompson, Simpson and Lillie,
where she represented management in labor and employment law disputes.
In 2004 she became client relations and placement director at Counsel On Call. She
has spent the past six years counseling legal professionals on career-related issues

“We are delighted that Dean Winsett will be sharing her considerable career services
expertise with our students and alumni,” said Kevin Smith, dean of the law school.
“I’m happy to return to my alma mater and to be working with students to assist them
in achieving their career goals,” Winsett said.
