Suits for Success
Through the generous support of College alumni and friends, FCBE launched “Suits for Success,” (flyer) a program that awards professional dress awards to qualified students.
Today’s competitive workplace requires high levels of professional development to meet the increasingly stringent requirements of employers, and professional attire is a critical component. USA Today recently reported that 50% of surveyed employers identified that young college graduates often mistakenly wear inappropriate attire in an employment interview and lose potential job opportunities. However, given the economic challenges that many students face while pursuing their degrees, purchasing appropriate career attire can be financially challenging and often impossible to achieve.
Fogelman College of Business and Economics is working to help solve this student challenge by providing professional wardrobe awards to deserving students. Students who have successfully finished The Complete Professional Program offered through the Avron B. Fogelman Professional Development Center are able to apply to the “Suits for Success” scholarship award program.
Students selected for this scholarship receive a $250 award for a two-piece suit from a designated retailer, a shirt/blouse, and appropriate shoes. All of the chosen wardrobe essentials are required to meet professional standards specified by the Avron B. Fogelman Professional Development Center.
The “Suits for Success” scholarship fund is competitive for FCBE students who finished the Complete Professional Program. Those interested are required to submit a comprehensive application requiring academic accomplishments, faculty recommendations, and demonstration of financial need.  A committee of FCBE faculty and staff will review all applications, and awards are based on fund availability.
