Jean McIvor has been on the U of M faculty since Fall 1998. She is a Pediatric and Family Nurse Practitioner with many years of experience working with children. She teaches Pediatric Ambulatory clinical sections and other courses as needed in the Undergraduate program. Although she has taught several courses in the Family Nurse Practitioner Graduate program, Professor McIvor currently concentrates her time in the undergraduate courses.

Professor McIvor serves LSON on the Student Affairs committee. Since 2005, she has been a Faculty co-advisor for the Loewenberg Student Nurses Association.

Professor McIvor serves the Nursing community through Sigma Theta Tau, International Nursing Honor Society through multiple terms on the Board of Directors of the Beta Theta Chapter- at- Large. A member since 1979, Jean has been Program Chairperson, Vice President (several times) and Chapter President, and has served on International Regional Committees. She is also a member of the American Nurses Association.

Additionally, Professor McIvor serves the Memphis community through incorporating student clinical experiences throughout the Memphis community. This furthers the students' wide opportunities by engaging them in programs through the Memphis City Schools, Shelby County Schools, Memphis Catholic Schools, St. Jude Children's Hospital, Grizzlies House, Ronald McDonald House, Target House, First Works Children's program, Mid- South Safe Kids Coalition, Memphis Park Commission, United Cerebral Palsy and others. Students get a true feel for the task of "nursing" children in their environment.

Jean is married to Robert McIvor (a HUGE University of Memphis TIGER fan) and enjoys going to football and basketball games to cheer on the teams!

Their daughter Carrie is a 2007 LSON graduate and she is employed by St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. (Yeah!)

Son Stephen is enrolled as a graduate student at the U of M in the new Master's of Social Work program.
