Freshman Orientation

Make plans to attend one of these NSO sessions. Students who attend earlier sessions generally have better options for class selections. Please note there are specific sessions for music majors (May 22-23; June 23-24, June 9-10, July 7-8).

Below are the Orientation Dates for New Freshman Students. The reservation deadline is quickly approaching - JULY 25th for all sessions!

May 22-23 (For University Academic Scholarship Recipients ONLY) - Excited and FunFULL
May 29-30 - FULL
June 9-10 - FULL
June 12-13 - FULL
June 23-24 - FULL
June 26-27 - FULL
July 7-8 - FULL
July 10-11 - FULL
July 21-22 - FULL

July 28-29

August 7-8 - JUST OPENED! 

Below is an abbreviated outline of the schedule for your two-day session. You will receive a more detailed schedule when you arrive at Orientation. Orientation is a continuous program with all activities scheduled in a necessary sequence. Students are required to attend all sessions on both days and to spend the night on campus. The orientation schedule requires extensive walking so please wear comfortable shoes and bring an umbrella!

DAY ONE

8:00-8:45 Check-in & Information Fair
9:00-10:00 Welcome and Meet Your Orientation Guides
10:00-12:00 Academic Planning With Advisors
12:15-1:30 Lunch and Information Fair
1:30-4:15 Student Life Workshops and College Issues
6:00-7:00 Dinner
7:30-9:30 Pool Party at the Campus Recreation Center
(Swimming, Basketball, Table Tennis, Video Games, and FUN, FUN, FUN!!!)

DAY TWO

8:00-9:00 Breakfast
9:00-11-30 Financial Aid & Scholarships, Health & Wellness, Preparing for Academic Success, Faculty Panel
11:30-4:00 Academic Advising, Schedule Planning, Registration, and Light Lunch

Freshman Orientation 1

Students will have various times for advising and registration. Although you may finish earlier, please be prepared to stay until 4:00 p.m.

All incoming freshmen will receive a brochure in their mailbox with detailed information about New Student Orientation. If you did not receive a brochure in the mail, you may download one here.  You must have been admitted to the University of Memphis in order to attend New Student Orientation.

Freshman Orientation Student Fee - $100

Includes one night in an on-campus residence hall, three meals, refreshment breaks, and Orientation materials.
