A cherished tradition returns to the University of Memphis with the annual Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 5 at 12:30 p.m. in Harris Concert Hall (Music Building, 3775 Central Ave.) The free event is presented annually by the Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music.
The eclectic program will include traditional favorites and newer works performed by soloists and ensembles from throughout the school. Concert goers should expect everything from jazz to orchestral to choral music, plus a few surprises. In past years those attending have been greeted at the entrance by everything from the U of M marching band to a chorus of tubas playing “Jingle Bells.”
Dr. Patricia Hoy, director of the school, scheduled the concert for the lunch hour on campus to allow all students, faculty and staff to attend. “We often have school children as guests,” she said, “and hope that residents from the neighborhood and throughout Memphis will join us this year.”
